In a series of 'Dear Hog' questions, the comedian launches in to 'sage' advice that the recipient can take seriously or more likely, just laugh.
For example:
Q: How can I get the courage to approach girls and be more brave in general? - Spencer the spineless mollusk living in a man's world
A: You know what stops you from doing a lot of things you know you SHOULD do? House music...
He then goes on to talk of the root of the problem being procrastination, to fight fear and rejection...good, common-sense advice thrown in with a lot of jokes.
Throughout there are one liners, anecdotes, things to say, things not to say when in the throes of passion. And whilst there is a hint of schoolboy humor in almost all the answers, overall it makes for a good book to dip into when a pick-me-up is needed. With the occasional input from 'Nerd Guy', 'Grumpy Old Man' and 'Redneck Guy' and even 'Santa' makes an appearance, the opinions are 'varied' to say the least.
In between the jokes there is actually useful advice. It is very much a case of reading between the lines. And the advice is aimed at both men and women alike. Ultimately, through a lot of jokes and one-liners, HogWild values a good, open and communicative relationship - with lots of sex! Whilst the humor borders crude/ things a pimply teenager would love, I found a lot of it genuinely funny. Worth a read especially if you're in need of a laugh.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author to review. The opinions expressed are my own and I am not required to give a positive critique.
