To make matters worse, not only is the condition controlling her more, but she's forgotten all about Ryan and is asking daily for Tess. He needs her help. Will she come back with him? Will they be able to move on from Ryan's passing and what secret has Fletcher held all this time?
Not your typical romance novel, Andrews' story is well written and emotive. The subject matter - a child's death - has been handled with care but she goes beyond Ryan's death to show how not talking and sharing can damage the relationship between a husband and wife. Tess' reluctance to accept Ryan's death pushes her away from Fletcher, a man who still truly loves her.
The author's uncomplicated way of writing, aides to create a riveting plot that has made this book a page turner. There were a few times where I felt the story became a little repetitive in terms of Tess' thoughts and way of dealing with Ryan's death but it's a minor issue. Andrews' ability to treat the mother's Alzheimer's with decorum and how to deal with the degenerative condition made this sub-plot poignant. Overall, it's a very good novel with moments of gripping sexual tension, profound love and utter despair. A recommended read.
